Alta Ski Area

Powder Lives Here

With an average of 538 inches of annual snowfall, Alta is “skiing as it should be.” It is a skier-only destination with tons of great beginner and intermediate terrain. But for any powder-seeking expert, Alta is the promised land thanks to various off-piste lines across the mountain.

ENDLESS POWDER

Located in the heart of Utah ski country, Alta Ski Area is known for its endless mountains of powder. With a 40-year average of 538 inches, this legendary destination is doing its part to contribute to the state’s trademarked claim to fame—The Greatest Snow on Earth.

STEEPED IN TRADITION

Since 1938, Alta has plowed the way for many ski industry firsts—pioneering powder skiing techniques, snow safety and avalanche mitigation, as well as the initial conversations with the Forest Service that became the model for modern ski schools.
