48 miles

MORNING

Arrive at Reno-Tahoe International Airport and head straight for Palisades Tahoe, just a 45 minute drive through the mountains. A renowned ski area, Palisades is famous not only for its progressive terrain and record-breaking snowfall, but also for being the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics—one of only three U.S. mountains to have done so. When you get to The Village, hop on the KT-22 Express Chair—one of North America’s best chairlifts—and take a turn on Moseley’s Run. Named after Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley, the trail is steep and sustained for over 1,000 vertical feet, guaranteed to leave your legs burning.

Afternoon

In The Village at Palisades Tahoe, there are fantastic eateries to choose from, like Tremigo Mexican Kitchen, Rocker, or Fireside Pizza Company, to name a few.  Unbuckle and fuel up when you enjoy your food on the sunny KT-22 deck. Need something to share with your family or friends? Weighing in at a few pounds, the Rocker Nachos provide more than enough sustenance to keep you and your crew going the rest of the day. If it’s dumping snow, head to the new Red Dog chair or Resort Chair, offering plenty of space and sheltered glades for an endless afternoon of powder fun. Still looking for more options? Experience mountain nirvana when you take the Headwall lift to access wide-open bowls, challenging bumps, and smooth groomers.

EVENING

Kick off the night with some outdoor après at the popular hangout Le Chamois & Loft Bar, affectionately known by locals as "The Chammy." Here, you can enjoy a beer and a slice of pizza while you rehash your stories from the slopes before returning to your room at The Village at Palisades Tahoe for the night.

MORNING

Jump on the Base to Base Gondola for a 16-minute ride to the Alpine lodge, the base area of a stunning playground for all skill levels. Your ride will take you across the stunning Sierra Crest, and if you are desperate to get out on snow, you can take your first run off of the KT-22 mid-station before finishing the journey. At Alpine, stop at the Treats Café window for a caffeine boost before heading to the lifts. If you’re up for a challenge, head to the Pacific Crest South Bowls, located on the backside of the mountain boasting shore-to-shore views of Lake Tahoe. A short hike from Summit Express brings you to breathtaking open bowls that transform into steep chutes and cliffs, a perfect spot to hit on a powder day.

Afternoon

For lunch, stop and order at The Chalet, an on-mountain Bavarian-style beer garden serving up a variety of savory eats. Sitting on the deck, you can bite into the signature raclette (melted swiss cheese) sandwich as you cozy up with a full mug of hot cocoa. After lunch, spend the day cruising the terrain off of Treeline Cirque, packed with a range of intermediate terrain from the midstation or the top station — long groomers, moguls, trees, bowls, and chutes. End the day with a beer on the deck of the Alpine Lodge, a centrally located après spot that is prime for kicking back and relaxing in the California sun.

EVENING

Grab a ride on the Base to Base Gondola back to The Village at Palisades Tahoe by 4pm. From The Village, you’ll want to head out to historic downtown Truckee for a warm meal and craft beer. You’ll love the old western architecture, the variety of shops and restaurants, and the train tracks that run right through town.

MORNING

Take Interstate 80 to “The Biggest Little City in the World,” a journey that will have you winding along the beautiful Truckee River the entire way. Built on the mining and casino industries, Reno has blossomed into a culturally rich city brimming with activity and excitement. If you arrive in the morning, head to Perenn Bakery for some of the most delectable baked goods in town. Then, walk around the vibrant Midtown District, known for its unique, locally-owned shops and colorful murals adorning building walls.

AFTERNOON

Grab a quick bite—and sample some local brews—at The Depot Craft Brewery and Distillery. This local favorite is housed in a 104-year-old former train depot, and now serves as Reno’s first distillery and brewery. After lunch, take a stroll down the River Walk, which winds along the Truckee River.

EVENING

Make a reservation for the night at one of Reno’s signature hotel & casinos, like the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino or the Grand Sierra Resort. For dinner, try out Liberty Food & Wine Exchange or Kwok's Bistro, both of which offer takeout. Be sure to do a driving loop of downtown Reno at night, too, so that you can pass under the famous Reno Arch when it’s lit up.
